Grand Rapids is known for its cold weather; however, that doesn’t mean you can’t still have fun. From shows to outdoor activities, there’s always something to do in the area. We’ve put together a list of some of the few things to do in Grand Rapids during the winter.

Grand Rapids has several venues to see live entertainment, from comedy and dance, to theatre, music, and more. Visit the Downtown Market. This massive indoor farmer’s market has vendors from all over. You can get artisan cheeses, wine, spices, baked goods, fish, meat, and more. You can take cooking classes as well, or simply shop around. No matter the time of year, there’s always something to do at the Downtown Market.

Like museums? Visit one of the many in Grand Rapids. You can stop by the Grand Rapids Public Museum, visit the Roger B. Chaffee Planetarium, the Grand Rapids Art Museum, Urban Institute of Contemporary Arts, or the Grand Rapids Children’s Museum. No matter your tastes, there’s a museum in Grand Rapids for you.

If you don’t mind the cold, getting outdoors is a blast in Grand Rapids during the snowy season. You can go ice fishing, visit one of many winter sculpture gardens, ice skate at Rosa Parks Circle, or simple sled, ski, or snowshoe in a Grand Rapids-area park.
